French Toast Casserole = a good day

We had these babies for dinner.  And there was so much left over, we had them again for breakfast.  For being the first time that I tried this recipe out, I have to say, "SCRUMPTIOUS"

Of course I went back for seconds!  OH, and this picture doesn't show it, but I used lots of syrup, and didn't even feel bad about it!

This makes a 9x13 casserole dish, and it rises and theres tons!
So if you aren't cooking for a whole family like me, then reduce it in half!

1 whole wheat loaf of bread, and u can also use french bread)
1/2 c. raisins
3 tsp. cinnamon
1 cup milk
2 cups half and half ( YOU CAN JUST USE total 3 cups of milk)
2/3 c. sugar ( or just enough to sweeten)
dozen eggs
1 tsp. vanilla

preheat @350
genrously butter casserole dish. YOu can Trim crusts (but why waste!) Cut each slice into fourths and arrange on bottom of baking dish can be overlapping. In mixing bowl beat eggs, rasins, cinnamon, milk, half and half, sugar and vanilla. (I used a Beater and whipped it up for a minute or so. It was kinda frothy!)

Pour mixture over bread. Let set for about 10 minutes to soak up. If there is alot of liquid then add some more bread to soak up liquid.
bake for 55 minutes at 350 degrees or until knife inserted in center comes out dry. if the top starts to turn dark just cover with foil until its done. cooking time will vary!

When its done, let cool for about 15 minutes uncovered. Cut and serve with maple syrup!
